computer in my living will go to the windows xp loading screen, then a blue screen with some writing on it will appear (it appears and disappears far too fast for me to even read a word of it) and then the computer will restart, and it will do this over and over again.

Good ol' BSOD.

Probably a hardware failure. I'd start by testing your ram.

well the RAM was just in use about a month ago, but i will go ahead and test it.]

Edit: RAM tested and it is not the ram.

power supply is next, followed by a re-install of windows.

after that test the motherboard, followed by an RMA of everything one at a time.

"Worked a month ago" doesn't mean it still works today.

i was pretty careful with the parts. i'm going to try putting in my main computers harddrive and seeing what that does.

EDIT: tested the hard drive from my main computer into the computer with the problem, the hard drive is not the problem.

How did you 'test' the ram?

Did you check to make sure the setting for your ram are correct? I had a problem like this once because my ram wasn't set correctly when I stuck a new set in.

well the set that is currently in it is the same one i've used for years.

how old is the motherboard that you installed that ram on? On older mobo's I think that they start to become brittle from all the heating, cooling, and aging and when your inserting the new memory that pressure can flex the mobo and damage it. I had this happen to me a few years ago on an old dell i was putting some new ram in.

Not saying this is necessarily the kind of problem your having but you might wanna check to see if your motherboard is damaged if you cant figure out the problem
